The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is renowned for its dedication to the rescue, rehabilitation, and reintroduction of orphaned elephants and rhinos in Kenya. Founded in 1977, this organization operates an innovative orphanage in Nairobi where visitors can learn about wildlife conservation, see the young elephants up close, and support efforts to protect Kenya’s endangered species. The Trust's mission revolves around saving Africa’s largest land creatures and inspiring a new generation to value conservation.
You will be met in Nairobi and taken to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s elephant orphanage. Upon arrival, you'll be introduced to the rescue and rehabilitation process as you watch the orphaned elephants being fed and playing in the mud. It’s an intimate and educational experience that highlights conservation efforts firsthand.
After your visit, you may have the opportunity to adopt an elephant or make a contribution to ongoing conservation projects. The visit typically lasts about 1-2 hours, wrapped up with a chance to explore the surrounding sanctuary and learn more about Kenya’s wildlife protection initiatives.
